"We want it to be a happy place," - Julie Zimbelman, MD

It might not seem possible in a medical facility, but at Rocky Mountain Pediatric Hematology Oncology, we want our patients and families to feel at home.

When we dedicated our 4,300-square-foot clinic in February 2006, we asked for support and guidance in the creation of a place of wellness, comfort and compassion for each and every person entering the doors.

Our clinic includes examination rooms, a procedure room and medical equipment to ensure the highest standards of medical care.

But we've also incorporated touches of home to ease patient fears, support families, and de-emphasize the medical aspects of a visit.

A comfortable waiting room with a colorful play area, toys and fish tank greets those who enter Rocky Mountain Pediatric Hematology Oncology.

We offer four infusion rooms, three of which are private and include traditional beds rather than hospital beds for patients who want to relax.

Our fourth infusion room is an open therapy room with two comfortable recliners.

To help pass the time, all infusion rooms have televisions, DVD and VCR players, books, movies, art supplies, laptops with internet capability and board and video games.

We know our families get hungry, so we offer a kitchen with snacks and drinks.

We also have a procedure room is used for spinal taps and bone marrow samplings.

When our brave patients complete their treatments and procedures, they are shown the "good job closet" where they can choose from several shelves of rewards and prizes. And because we know our patients' siblings work hard, too, we also have them choose a reward.
